Software Development Test Engineer

We are looking for a Software Test Engineer with Data Privacy testing experience who will help drive and improve the quality assurance function and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) compliance within Manetu. The QA Engineer will be responsible for helping dive into the details to identify failure points using various data models, mentoring other resources, and influencing automation.

Your Mission

  • Hands on testing and documenting test cases, with a natural ability to deliver on short timelines
  • Work with Developers, product managers, and other functional team members to understand the requirements and expand the testing
  • Collaborate with different functional groups to identify gaps, prioritize, and resolve issues

Qualifications

  • An individual who can explore the system with minimal guidance
  • Able to identify and suggest potential solutions for accessibility barriers based on WCAG 2.1
  • Able to find the root cause of open production support tickets quickly
  • Someone who provides good feedback on improvement opportunities and follow through with crisp timelines
  • Able to influence the development team to fix backlog bugs by clearly articulating the problem
  • Someone who demonstrates initiative and enjoys working as part of a team

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other related fields
  • 3+ years of experience working and testing software applications
  • 2+ years of experience in digital accessibility testing
  • Experience with assistive technologies JAWS, NVDA VoiceOver screen readers (iOS) and Talkback (Android) or other software tools.
  • Experience with automated accessibility Dev/QA tools such as WAVE, axe
  • Debugging skills, able to convey and explain bug causes as a subject matter expert in WCAG
  • 2+ years of experience working in an Agile development lifecycle
  • Understanding of development technologies (Java, JavaScript, REST API, AngularJS, CSS)

Bonus Points

  • Experience with test automation of web applications
  • Certified Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) or with any accessibility certification.
  • Knowledge of HTML, ARIA, CSS and JavaScript
  • Understanding of development technologies (Java, JavaScript, REST API, AngularJS, CSS)
