“There’s a lot of uncertainty still with regulations and a lot of companies and endeavoring to sort of figuring out how they can exist in such an uncertain place.”
In another podcast, our CEO and Co-Founder David Harris had a great discussion with Eric Hess who is the founder of Hess Legal Counsel and also a founder of Helical.
So, we asked him, which I had a curiosity too.
That “What’s going on for the digital assets side”?
“It’s such an interesting time for digital assets in the U.S. just because there’s a lot of uncertainty still with regulations and a lot of companies and endeavoring to sort of figuring out how they can exist in such an uncertain place”.
“And certain actions, like even BitMEX, which I think addressed much problematic conduct, but it raises questions as to how much can I actually do if I have any exposure at all to the U.S.?
“I can say I don’t take U.S. customers. I can refuse U.S. customers”.
“But if somehow a U.S. customer finds a way to engage with my platform, what does that mean”?
“And a lot of these systems still want to keep an eye on being compliant with U.S. laws even if they’re not specifically addressing U.S. customers because everybody anticipates that there will be a gradual loosening up and they want to be positioned.”
